August 15th is NATIONAL RELAXATION DAY,(called National Slacker Day in England). This holiday was started in the U.K. in 2001. It is a national effort to get people to realize they need to stop and smell the roses. Take a break from our hectic lifestyles with relaxing and de-stressing massage and facials. Learn that life is not worth living, if we are slowly killing ourselves everyday. This day is dedicated 24 hours to enjoy much-needed "R & R." Dr. Isom will be here doing Botox, and the Breeze 102.3 will be here as well giving out tons of freebies too. This is our way of saying thank you for an amazing 5 years in business.

As summer starts to wind down and the "Back to School" madness begins, give yourself one last day to relax and enjoy the warmth of the summer sun. In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, we all tend to forget that we need to stop and just REEELLLLAAAXXX. Everyone deserves a special day during the year for total relaxation. Since August 15th is National Relaxation Day, it is the perfect day to schedule a relaxing massage or facial with a licensed, therapist. Like most Americans, you probably know that a massage therapy session or a facial feels good and can help you relax from a hectic day or ongoing life stresses. Did you know that there are also different types of massage therapy and facials for various health conditions and situations? Massage therapy can improve your quality of life and fit your lifestyle. While massage therapy relaxes you from the daily grind, it can also be effective for a variety of conditions such as recovery from a sports injury or prevention of an injury. Massage has also been shown to be helpful in soothing chronic back pain by reducing muscle tension and spasms. It can be useful in easing headache pain by targeting and releasing pressure points. In addition, getting a massage on a regular basis can aid in the body’s ability to manage those stresses in a healthier way. Massage doesn't just feel good, according to Rhone, Research shows that massage can reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, relaxes muscles, increases blood circulation, increases endorphins, the body's natural painkillers and improve range of motion.

Facts about stress …

1/3 of Americans are living with extreme stress and nearly half believe their stress has increased over the past five years. (American Psychological Association)
People who go for a single deep-tissue massage reduce their blood pressure by seven points. Over time, lowered blood pressure can add six years to your life. (Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine)
By 2020, the top five diseases will all have the underlying contributing factor of stress. (World Health Organization)
“Therapeutic massage helps people feel less anxious and stressed, relaxed yet more alert,” adds Rhone who has recently celebrated their 5th anniversary for Jamie's Therapeutic Touch full service day spa.

“Taking good care of our bodies with massage and spa services helps to reduce pain or stress and overall health and well-being can improve,” says Rhone. “We cannot totally eliminate stress in our clients’ lives, but we can teach our clients about their bodies so they can better handle the stresses that comes with everyday life.”
